You are here

Elections to the Academic Senate of CTU are conducted separately for the academic staff and students, in accordance with the Election Rules of the AS of CTU. Furthermore, elections are held separately for individual faculty districts and non faculty components. Academic staff members are elected in groups of three from each district, serving a three year term. AS CTU includes two representatives from each student district, with one student elected annually for a two y ear term. In the student chamber, half of the senators are replaced every year. Interestingly, this system mirrors the turnover pattern in the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.

Supplementary Academic Senate Elections in FIT Student District 2024

In these elections, we will be electing one student from the FIT student district whose mandate will start immediately after the elections have ended and end at the end of 2024.

Why run for candidacy?

The Academic Senate's authority is meticulously outlined in the Higher Education Act. Some of the most crucial responsibilities include electing the rector, approving budgets and internal regulations (such as study and examination guidelines), as well as endorsing strategic documents. In addition to these and other duties explicitly defined by law, senators have the opportunity to bring virtually any subject up for discussion and pass resolutions, thus playing a significant role in shaping the university's operations.
