The CTU Academic Senate is a autonomous representative organ of CTU. The members of the CTU Academic Senate are elected by the CTU academic community. Each of the eight CTU faculties elects three academic workers and two students, and in addition the CTU academic community at parts of CTU not attached to one of the faculties elects a total of three academic workers and two students.

The CTU Academic Senate approves the CTU Strategy and the internal regulations of CTU. It also approves the CTU budget presented by the rector and monitors the use of funds and approves the Annual Report on Activities and the CTU Annual Economic Report presented by the rector.

The CTU Academic Senate serves for a term of three years. The seats of members of the CTU Academic Senate that in exceptional cases become vacant before the end of the term are filled by replacements from regular or supplementary elections, who become members of the CTU Academic Senate until the end of the term of office of the CTU Academic Senate.
