Information for applicants to accredited study programmes at CTU in Prague
Recognition of university studies abroad is governed by the Methodological Guideline No. 4/2023 to the recognition of foreign education as part of the admission procedure to study at CTU.
An applicant who applies for an assessment of foreign education, is obliged to fill out an application and deliver necessary documents no later than 30 days before the date of enrolment into study at the faculties to which he applies to.
Submission of applications for the academic year 2024/2025 and the NOS app will be closed on October 31, 2024.
From December 1, 2024 applications for the 2025/2026 academic year will be launched.

Assessment of foreign secondary education for applicants applying to the bachelor's study programme at the Czech Technical University in Prague
The sum of the standard period of primary and secondary education for the purposes of the admission procedure must be at least 11 years.
For the purpose of assessing foreign secondary education, it is necessary to submit a high school diploma (leaving certificate) or an accepted equivalent, which is an IB diploma (International Baccalaureate) or GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education) at A-level in at least three subjects.
To assess the student’s acquired secondary/high school education for the admission procedure at CTU in Prague, the applicant must submit:
- a) an official copy (verified by a notary) of a foreign certificate/diploma or similar document certifying completed secondary education
b) an official copy (verified by a notary) of diploma supplement or academic transcript - a) In case of private secondary school we require confirmation that a secondary/high school is accredited in a country, where the foreign school is located and that the applicant is entitled to apply for admission to study in a bachelor's study programme
(In case of state secondary school, we can also request this confirmation)
Please note – the territory of Northern Cyprus- we require confirmation that the secondary school is accredited by the government of the Republic of Cyprus.
b) if necessary, the CTU may ask the applicant, who is applying for an assessment of foreign secondary/high school education to submit the following document: an official copy of the document detailing the content and scope of education completed at a foreign school (list of subjects with study hours), confirmation of the applicant's academic right - confirmation of fee payment – 900 CZK
- verified power of attorney, if the applicant is represented by a proxy Power of attorney
Documents must be officially translated into Czech or English by a Czech sworn translator. The translation must be firmly attached to the translated (original) text to avoid the change of the translated lists. No translation is required for documents issued in English.
The documents needed to assess the foreign education can be deliver by:

Assessment of foreign higher education for applicants applying to the master´s study programmes at the Czech Technical University in Prague
To assess the student’s acquired university education for the admission procedure at CTU in Prague, the applicant must submit:
- a) an official copy (verified by a notary) of a bachelor´s diploma or similar document certifying completed higher education
b) an official copy of the diploma supplement/transcript of records detailing the content and scope of education completed at a foreign university (list of subjects and length of study)
c) if necessary, the CTU may ask the applicant, who is applying for an assessment of foreign higher education to submit the following document: an official copy of the document detailing the content and scope of education completed at a foreign university (list of subjects with study hours), confirmation of the applicant's academic right, confirmation of university accreditation - confirmation of fee payment – 900CZK

Assessment of foreign higher education for applicants applying to the doctoral study programmes at the Czech Technical University in Prague
To assess the student’s acquired university education for the admission procedure at CTU in Prague, the applicant must submit:
- a) an official copy (verified by a notary) of master´s diploma or similar document certifying completed higher education
b) an official copy of the diploma supplement/transcript of records detailing the content and scope of education completed at a foreign university (list of subjects and length of study)
c) if necessary, the CTU may ask the applicant, who is applying for an assessment of foreign higher education to submit the following document: an official copy of the document detailing the content and scope of education completed at a foreign university (list of subjects with study hours), confirmation of the applicant's academic right, confirmation of university accreditation, copy of bachelor diploma and diploma supplement/ transcript - confirmation of fee payment – 900CZK
- verified power of attorney, if the applicant is represented by a proxy Power of attorney

Payment information for assessment process at CTU in Prague
To assess the foreign education CTU demands the fee after Section 48 para 7 of the Higher Education Act No. 111/1998 Coll. and its changes and supplements of other laws, the fee is nonrefundable irrespective to the result of the nostrification. The fee for assessment of foreign education is 900,- CZK.

Verification of the authenticity of signatures and stamps on the original diploma
The authenticity of signatures and stamps on original documents in accordance with the Section 90 (3) of Act No. 111/1998 Coll. on Higher Education must be verified.
The verification of authenticity of signatures and stamps on the original diploma depends on the country, where the diploma was issued.
The verification procedure can be divided into three groups under international treaties
- A bilateral agreement on legal aid is concluded with the State concerned
allowing to submit public documents (diplomas and other education documents) issued in a Contracting State to the authorities of the other Contracting State without further verification. - Apostille verification
Signatories to the Hague Convention - Multilateral Contract for the Simplification of Authentication of Foreign Public Documents - The authenticity of signatures and stamps on original documents must be verified by Apostille. Apostille is issued by an authorized state authority (the so-called apostille office) in which the document was issued. A list of apostille offices is available on the Hague Conference website - Superlegalization
The authenticity of signatures and stamps on the original documents must be verified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the state, where the university which issued the document is located, or by the relevant foreign authority, and the relevant Czech embassy in the country, where the university which issued the diploma is located.
The question of legalization and superlegalization of diplomas and documents on the completion of studies abroad can be consulted with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Department of Legalization of Documents of the Consular Department.
