Election of a person to be proposed for the post of rector of the Czech Technical University in Prague

A candidate will be elected if at least 23 senators vote for her/him to be elected, i.e. if there is a more than 50% majority of the whole number of senators. If none of the candidates gains the required number of votes, the candidate with the lowest number of votes drops out, and the remaining candidates go forward to the next round of the election. In the final round of the election, there is a single candidate. If she or he does not gain the required number of votes, a new election is declared.

After successful election, the person will be proposed to the president of the Czech Republic to be appointed rector of CTU in Prague. The election procedures are goverened by Article 4 of the Working procedures of the Academic Senate of CTU in Prague.

Candidates for the post of rector of CTU in Prague for the period from 01. 02. 2018 until 31. 01. 2022

On October 9th, 2017 the election commission opened envelopes containing applications from five candidates. Each of them fulfilled the conditions for candidates. We therefore have the following five candidates for the post of rector of CTU in Prague

  • prof. Dr. Michal Pěchouček, MSc.
  • doc. RNDr. Vojtěch Petráček, CSc.
