Series of seminars aimed at motivating students
On Wednesday 24 October 2007, Zbyněk Frolík, a CTU graduate and founder and director of Linet, began a series of seminars aimed at motivating students and others to go into business. Linet is Europe's biggest producer of clinical beds with sales of several billion Czech crowns, and Zbyněk Frolík established the success of this company on the basis of innovative practices. The first lecture dealt with innovation and innovative business, under the title "A Passion, not just an Option." As an example, he pointed out that Linet uses staff nurses rather than hospital directors as its business contacts, because it is nurses that come into closest contact with the compay‘s products. Zbyněk Frolík introduced many other examples and procedures to challenge and inspire participants in the series of seminars.
Seminars led by directors of internationally successful companies under the title "Everything you wanted to know, but were afraid to ask" is organized within the Tripod project, and forms part of the complex of support activities at CTU in Prague for cooperation between academic and business circles. All seminars will take the form of informal discussions with a moderator, giving students and others an opportunity to come into contact with business practices and gather the kind of information that is usually not written about in books.
Next week the seminar will be led by Magdalena Souček, a partner in Ernst&Young and president of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic. The subject will be "How to get on in the Czech Republic and in the USA". The discussion will take place in the conference room of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Dejvice on Tuesday 30 October 2007 at 10:00. Further information is available on the Tripod project web pages.
