17th European Student Convention
The 17th European Student Convention took place at the Czech Technical University in Prague from February 15th-19th, 2009.
The
Convention was a part of official Czech European Presidency Program. The
main theme of this year’s European Student Convention was Student
Empowerment through Participation at National, Continental and Global
Level. At the conference, representatives of European Student Union
member states participated in a number of panel discussions,
workshops and, together with invited personalities, tried to find
answers to current challenges associated with higher education and the
position of students in higher education and in society in general. The
panel discussion included the Personalities from the European
Commission, the Council of Europe, UNESCO, the Organization for
Security and Cooperation in Europe and OECD, as well as the Ministry of
Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic, the European Student
Union and the Student Chamber of the Council of HEI.
The conference was awarded Czech European Presidency label and took place under the auspices of Ondřej Liška, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic, Pavel Bém, Mayor of Prague, and Professor Václav Havlíček, Rector of the Czech Technical University in Prague.
