Tenth Anniversary of the CTU International Student Club
The International Student Club at CTU celebrates the tenth anniversary of its foundation on October 8th. In just ten years, ISC has established itself as an internationally known innovator that has enriched the study stays of large numbers of Erasmus and exchange students. It has contributed enormously to the reestablishment of CTU as an internationally-aware and internationally-oriented university that takes leading roles in a wide range of international activities and attempts to take the international dimension fully into account in all its activities.
In 2003, ISC was voted Section of the Year among the 170 clubs in the Erasmus Student Network. In 2005, the club was awarded the EU Label Prize for its innovative and extensive student-to-student language teaching and learning programmes integrated with a range of other international activities. In 2007, ISC organized the highly successful Annual General Meeting of the Erasmus Student Network, held in Prague for about 450 participants. In 2008, ISC won the Czech national round and reached the final stages, held in Aachen, of the Charlemagne Prize for Students.
The Club’s activities include its Buddy Programme and Orientation Week to help all incoming international students; national presentations; excursions and parties; a range of language study programmes in which students teach each other; study abroad fairs, aimed at encouraging CTU students to take up the opportunity to study at a partner university; and International Culture Week. The Tram Party at the end of the winter semester and the Boat Party at the end of the summer semester are considered legendary.
ISC alumni is a powerful network of Czech and foreign former students of the university who are now spread all over the world.
