Faculty of Information Technologies opens
The Faculty of Information Technologies, the eighth faculty of CTU in Prague, opened its doors to its first batch of students in September 2009.
A total of 469 students registered for the first year of studies. Classes are being held in the part of the Masaryk dormitory buildings formerly occupied by CSA Czech Airlines and in the newly-opened National Technical Library building. The new faculty has 52 (11%) female students, 77 (15%) foreign students, 22 of whom are from Russia. One student is from as far away as Lesotho. Jakub Křivohlavý, a graduate of the secondary industrial school in Česká Lipa, was the first student to be registered at the new faculty. The staff of the Faculty of Information Technologies will continue to provide instruction at the other faculties, particularly at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.
