Selection of candidates for student mobilities
SELECTION CRITERIA
In cases where there are more candidates than available places, the International Office attempts to use selection procedures that are fair and open. The selection criteria that we use for study places offered at English speaking universities are as follows:
Candidates will be given 4 grades (20, 20, 20, 10) for:
- their study grade average
- their performance in the written English language test
- their performance in spoken English
- The way they present their motivation for studying abroad, their work in student organizations or in voluntary organizations, their work experience, their special distinction in any academic or non-academic activity.
Students applying to study at the most popular partner universities (in Australia, Canada, Singapore, USA, Japan) are recommended to submit an optional short motivation letter (not more than a half page of A4, in Czech) in support of their application. Candidates with the highest overall grades will be selected, and those with the highest grades will be given first choice of the available places, subject to the following considerations:
- The candidate’s field of specialisation and year of study must be acceptable to the institution at which (s)he wishes to study. Unfortunately, the acceptability of a field or year of study is not always known in advance, and may become clear only after a specific candidate has been put forward.
- Special arrangements are available to support the inclusion of handicapped students.
- Students with inadequate language skills will not be selected, but will be welcome to re-apply in future years.
