Health Insurance
Students from the EU, Norway, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Iceland need to bring their European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) from their home country. After your arrival in the Czech Republic, register at Všeobecná zdravotní pojišťovna České republiky to obtain an official document providing you the same health service as citizens of the Czech Republic free of charge
Visit Úřadovna PVZP, a.s. – the third floor, Vítězné náměstí 9, Prague 6, tel. 224 307 234/6.
To obtain treatment under the provisions of European regulations it is important to contact a medical institution that has a contract with the public health insurance system (most doctors have such a contract, but some institutions are private). If in doubt, contact the Centre for International Reimbursements
Centrum mezistátních úhrad, http://www.cmu.cz/en?Itemid=224, nám. W. Churchilla 2,Prague 3, tel: 234 462 041
Students from non-EU countries must have an international insurance plan. They should check with their insurance company before visiting a doctor whether they have a contract with the doctor's institution.
Prescriptions are issued through doctors and dispensed by pharmacies. You will be asked to pay a share of the costs, which are not refundable.
