STUDY ABROAD FAIR

Study Abroad Fair is a fair of noncommercial as well as commercial options of studying abroad. The institutions will present what they offer to the young audience, furthermore Czech students, who have already spent their semester or two abroad, will share with the coming people their experience. Study Abroad Fair is an unique chance to gather information from different institutions in one day under one roof.
Place: New Building CTU (FA, FIT), Dejvice Campus (Thákurova 9)

Orientation week 2010
12.-18.9.2011
The International Student Club is organizing an Orientation Week for 451 new exchange students, beginning on September 12th. All exchange students are advised to participate, in order to settle in before classes begin on September 19th. During this week, international students are introduced to the CTU educational system and are given information for their stay in the Czech Republic. They are helped to register for their courses, they meet Czech and international students, discover Prague during treasure hunt Prague Discovery Game, make some trips, and generally settle in before the semester.

Prof. A Min Tjoa awarded an honorary doctorate

On January 31st Prof. Dr. A Min Tjoa, Visiting Professor at NII had been awarded the honorary doctoral degree (Doctor Honoris causa) of the Czech Technical University in Prague for his scientific contributions in the field of databases, data warehousing, semantic web, and IT-securrity.

A FORUM ON BUILDING DIFFERENTLY
The international forum focused on sustainable architecture and construction was held at the beginning of April in Prague and tried to react on actual topics of limited resources on Earth.
This first forum in the annual series was centred on three key events: a keynote introductory lecture by architect Françoise-Hélène Jourda; an exhibition “Global Award for Sustainable Architecture” produced by the Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine in Paris; and finally, a Study Day, bringing together the leading European experts in the field.

Orientation Week

The International Student Club is organizing an Orientation Week for 444 new exchange students, beginning on September 9th. All exchange students are advised to participate, in order to settle in before classes begin on September 16th.
Conference on IP
13.-14.09.2010 at the National Technical Library
CTU in Prague, the Industrial Property Office of the Czech Republic and the British Embassy in Prague are organising the Prague Summer Conference on IP & Innovation, the opening conference of the Central European Branch Based Innovation Support Project, under the auspices of the rector of CTU in Prague.

Klaus
President of the Republic to meet students

On Tuesday, February 23rd, the president of the Czech Republic, Václav Klaus, visited the Prague 6 city district. His visit included the National Technical Library, on the Dejvice campus of CTU. At 3 p.m., in the Balling Hall on the ground floor of the library, the president met and had a discussion with students of the universities based in Prague 6.
Orientation week 2010

Every year, the Czech Technical University hosts exchange students from all round the world, and this term is no exception. There are 215 newly-arrived exchange students for the summer semester, and they were all welcomed in Prague by the Orientation Week that is traditionally organized by the International Student Club and the CTU International Office.
 
Scrivener

At a ceremony at the Bethlehem Chapel on January 19th, 2010, a doctorate honoris causa was awarded to Prof. Karen Scrivener, from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne. Prof. Scrivener is the director and the driving force behind Nanocem, a large consortium that brings together researchers and companies interested in fundamental research on the nanoscience of cement and concrete.

At a ceremony at the Bethlehem Chapel on January 19th, 2010 a doctorate honoris causa was awarded to Prof. Hans Kaiser. In addition to his distinguished work as an applied mathematician at the Vienna University of Technology, Prof Kaiser has worked extensively in establishing international study opportunities, lifelong learning, teacher education, and European and international dimension to university education in engineering.
